As part of a major, campus-wide faculty hiring initiative the Department of Physics at the University of Florida (UF) seeks to fill multiple nine-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in biological physics, to begin August 2019. Experimental biological physics, including but not limited to molecular and cellular function and dynamics, systems biology, networks, development, signaling, information processing, and related topics. The UF Department of Physics offers an excellent research environment with strong groups in the related areas of condensed matter experiment and theory as well as computational physics and chemistry. Numerous opportunities exist for on-campus collaboration with biomedical researchers through the six colleges of the UF Health Science Center and through UF institutes and centers such as the Cancer and Genetics Research Center, the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the McKnight Brain Institute, the Quantum Theory Project, and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. The Department of Physics also has close collaborations with the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, which has facilities in Gainesville, Tallahassee, and Los Alamos.

Each successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field. Postdoctoral research experience is expected. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body, while establishing a successful independent research program, is essential. Research start-up funds will be provided. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with the qualifications and experience that are expected at the level of Assistant Professor, and include a full benefits package.
