St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Department of Structural Biology

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the world’s premier research and treatment centers for pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is globally recognized for its pioneering work in pediatric oncology and hematology; genomics; computational biology; immunology; infectious diseases; cell, molecular and structural biology; neurobiology; drug discovery; and global medicine.

Our more than 250 faculty investigators work across the full spectrum of basic, translational and clinical research. Faculty-led scientific programs are advanced by the unparalleled degree of support that St. Jude provides to its investigators. The research resources and core facilities at St. Jude are truly extraordinary. From state-of-the-art technologies to expert support, our superb shared resources are designed to accelerate research and foster innovation, and expand the capabilities of each research group, freeing investigators to pursue creative ideas.

The Department of Structural Biology at St. Jude is seeking faculty candidates working in the area of membrane proteins by cryo-EM and/or X-ray crystallography. St Jude has established a world-class cryo-EM center that in its first phase includes a 300kV Titan Krios and a 200kV Talos Arctica microscope, both equipped with K3 detectors. Funds for the purchase of an additional Titan Krios in the near future is also available. The cryo-EM center is supported by three PhD-level staff scientists. Production of membrane proteins will be further supported by the new Protein Technologies Center operating within the department.

Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree and have at least 3 years of relevant postgraduate experience in structural biology studies of membrane proteins. Successful applicants are expected to develop and lead a world-class research program that addresses important problems in biomolecular systems of wide scientific and medical interest.
