Assistant Professor of Botany
The Department of Biological Sciences at Marshall University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Botany, or a closely related field. The department will give preference to candidates with collections-based research programs and prior herbarium curation experience. The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper-level BSC courses and establish an independent research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students. The department seeks candidates who will contribute to the university’s general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First-Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance students’ critical thinking skills. The successful candidate must have a PhD in botany or a closely-related discipline, and a demonstrated record of research publication, active pursuit of research funding, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Postdoctoral research, experience with herbarium curation, experience mentoring undergraduate research, and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching are preferred.
