Assistant Professor in Biological Sciences
The Department of Biological Sciences at Marshall University invites applications for the position of, Assistant Professor in Plant Cell Biology (tenure track) or a closely related field. The department seeks candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: plant physiology, cellular physiology, and signal transduction mechanisms. Experience with greenhouse management is a plus. The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper-level BSC courses and establish an independent research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students. The department seeks candidates who will contribute to the university’s general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First-Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance students’ critical thinking skills. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Plant Cell Biology or a closely-related discipline, and a demonstrated record of research publication, active pursuit of research funding, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Postdoctoral research, experience mentoring undergraduate research, and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching are preferred.
