The Laboratory for the Study of Central Nervous System Injury is a translational research group within the Department of Anesthesiology and Center for Shock Trauma & Anesthesiology Research (STAR) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (http://www.medschool.umaryland.edu/fadenlab/). It is recruiting two faculty researchers at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of experimental traumatic brain injury. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications. They would be expected to develop independent research programs within a collaborative laboratory group that includes 7 faculty level researchers, with outstanding research space and equipment.

The STAR Organized Research Center is a world-class, multi-disciplinary research and educational center focusing on brain injuries, critical care and organ support, resuscitation, surgical outcomes, patient safety and injury prevention. It includes 55 funded clinical and pre-clinical faculty investigators within the Department of Anesthesiology and R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree and at least two years of post-doctoral training in traumatic brain injury.  Preferred candidates should have extensive research experience related to mechanisms and modulation of traumatic brain injury, a history of independent funding, and a solid publication track record.  Experience with animal injury models, behavioral evaluation and histopathology are essential. Experience in molecular and cellular neurobiology are highly desirable.
