The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) seeks an energetic leader to serve as Professor and Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences.  The successful candidate must be qualified for tenure at the rank of Professor and must hold a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline.

The UAH College of Science advances cutting-edge research and offers first-rate degree programs thanks to our distinguished faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. With 14 full time faculty, the Department of Biological Sciences has 55 graduate and 460 undergraduate students, offers B.S. and M.S. degrees, and is a key part of an interdisciplinary Biotechnology Ph.D. program. The successful applicant will possess a clear vision for achieving the strategic goals of the department, demonstrate a strong commitment to research and educational activities, be an advocate for faculty and students, and foster excellence in the department.

The Department of Biological Sciences is housed in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology with well-equipped teaching and research facilities. Collaborative research activity is encouraged with the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, and more than a dozen biotechnology companies in Cummings Research Park, all of which are located minutes away from the university.  Cummings Research Park is the 2nd largest research park in the United States with over 285 high technology companies.  Huntsville is a mid-sized city located in beautiful north Alabama, an area that boasts a reasonable cost of living and ample recreational and cultural opportunities.
