Assistant Professor – Anatomical and/or Histological Biomedical Sciences

As part of a continued major Faculty recruitment effort, the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level. Exceptional candidates will also be considered for a higher rank. We seek candidates with broad training in Anatomy, Histology and/or human or veterinary Pathology who have nationally competitive research, or who have the capability to develop such a research program in collaboration with DBMS faculty. The candidate’s research will preferably be in one or more of the following areas in which we already have major strengths: cardiovascular, cancer, neuroscience, microbiology, and immunology. Applicants should have a strong publication record and, preferably, extramural grant funding. A demonstrated ability or potential to teach is required, as responsibilities will include teaching Anatomy and/or Histology to medical students. This is an excellent opportunity for junior faculty members because of the competitive starting salary, state-funded positions, ample laboratory space, core facilities, and the commitment of the existing faculty to provide strong career mentoring. This sizeable department offers many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborative research. Our very collegial environment also extends to clinical departments and other colleges at ETSU. The university is a regional state-supported institution serving ~15,000 students. The College of Medicine consistently ranks among the top Schools nationwide for rural medicine and primary care education. Johnson City is located at the base of the scenic Appalachian Mountains and provides a friendly, small town atmosphere. Our community also has a low cost of living, excellent public and private schools, clean mountain air, light traffic and southern hospitality.  Please apply at http://www.etsu.edu/jobs/ posting number is F00124P under “College of Medicine Faculty”.
