Faculty Position in Biomolecular Interactions and Structure

POSITION
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Applications will be considered from individuals with research interests and backgrounds in the broadly defined areas of biomolecular interactions, the assembly and regulation of macromolecular complexes, mechanistic biochemistry, and/or structural biology. The Department has outstanding research programs in the areas of molecular biology, cellular biochemistry, and macromolecular structure & function. This position is part of a plan to further broaden departmental expertise in biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, and/or chemical biology approaches. The research program of strong candidates should complement our current strengths with broad consideration given to the research tools and systems being utilized.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful hire is expected to develop or maintain an internationally recognized externally-funded research program with a biochemistry focus, participate in undergraduate and graduate education, and provide service through Departmental, College, and University committees, as well as external review panels. The position requires a firm commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and have post-doctoral training in appropriate fields. Candidates should have a strong record of publications and provide evidence of expertise in the broad areas defined above, as demonstrated in part by submission of a research plan describing future projects that will be competitive for external funding.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The position is a nine-month, tenure-track, academic appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Funds are available to provide an appropriate start-up package. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2019.
