Faculty Positions in Virology
The Department of Microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) (http://www.uab.edu/microbiology) invites applications from outstanding junior and mid-level scientists seeking tenure-earning or tenured faculty positions in virology. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and have a demonstrated record of originality and productivity in research. Applicants may provide expertise in new, complementing or existing areas of virology (http://www.uab.edu/virology). Virologists with a focus on respiratory viruses, molecular virology, virus/host interactions, virus/microbiome interactions or oncolytic viruses are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will receive a highly competitive startup package and salary.

The Department of Microbiology has a rich history of ground-breaking research in the fields of virology, bacterial genetics, and immunology. The research environment at UAB is highly interactive with extensive collaborations among basic science disciplines and between basic and clinical faculty. These interactions are stimulated by multidisciplinary centers such as Center for AIDS Research, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Program in Structural Biology, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, a Comprehensive Arthritis and Autoimmunity Center and a campus-wide Program in Immunology. UAB has outstanding cores, including state-of-the-art BSL3/ABSL3 and gnotobiotic facilities.
