The Department of Translational & Vascular Biology at University Texas Health Sciences Center, Tyler, Texas invites application for a tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. We are specifically looking for investigators with NIH R01 funded research program in ischemia-reperfusion injury, myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, hypertension, pulmonary microcirculation including pulmonary hypertension or pulmonary endothelial biology. The successful candidate will contribute to our core research program in cardiovascular or pulmonary translational research. The applicant must have a Ph.D., MD or MD, PhD, and appropriate postdoctoral training with outstanding publication record. The department of translational & vascular biology is a newly created department in the biomedical research center of the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Tyler (UTHSCT). The department has strengths in several areas of vascular biology, such as endothelial function, hypertension, myocardial infarction, pulmonary epithelial injury and repair due to oxidants. UTHSCT is one of the 14 components of UT System and is located in Tyler, a small city about 80 miles east of Dallas, which combines a small city living with access to a major metropolitan city. The city is also the home of University of Texas at Tyler with about 20,000 students pursuing undergraduate and graduate education in engineering, science, law and management studies. There are excellent public schools for elementary, middle and high school education in Tyler area, and the housing cost is comparatively lower in and around Tyler greater city area.
