The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University is seeking three post-doctoral research associate positions within the infectious diseases research group.  The ultimate goal of the research program is to train scientists who may join the workforce at the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility currently under construction at Manhattan, KS. However, no commitment is required beyond the funded period of fellowship. 

One position is in Computational Virology.  The responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to computational analysis of next generation of sequencing data, correlation analyses between phenotypes and genotypes, and publication of project results. The scope of work may include both laboratory (data acquisition) and analytic research activities. The second position is in Virology and Bioinformatics.  The responsibilities of the position will include:  analysis of gene expression data to study regulation, becoming proficient in BSL-3 practice to work with foreign animal diseases, and publication of project results. The scope of work may include both laboratory (data acquisition) and analytic research activities. The third position is in Virology and Immunology.  The responsibilities of the position will include:  cloning and expressing recombination proteins; determining protein-protein interaction by 2 dimensional electrophoresis, immunizing and analyzing immune response in sheep using ELISA and flow cytometry, becoming proficient in BSL-3 practices to work with foreign animal diseases, and publication of project results. The scope of work may include both laboratory (data acquisition) and analytic research activities.
