As a scientist in Lilly's Global Patient Outcomes and Real World Evidence (GPORWE) team, there is an opportunity to lead the development of innovative RWE and related capabilities necessary help differentiate Lilly's medicines from other treatments so that payers, patients and prescribers understand when and how to use the medicines and the expected patient benefits. This evidence is critical to decision-makers for use in shaping clinical research strategies, value based agreements, and optimizing treatment decisions in the real world setting. The RWE scientist provides in-depth scientific expertise in observational research methods and healthcare data to support an evidence package that tells a simple, timely, relevant value story.

As a part of Lilly's Health Outcomes Center of Expertise, the RWE Scientist is responsible for working with team members across Lilly functions to contribute to health outcomes evidence plans for our products and enable enterprise-wide coordination of the real world data strategy, advancement of methods, processes, and learning & development. The scientist is responsible for applying in-depth knowledge, understanding, and evaluation of clinical, health economic, and/or patient reported outcomes to produce quality RWE studies and scientific disclosures. The scientist effectively communicates RWE study findings and concepts to internal and external business partners and participates in dissemination of research findings to the scientific community. In addition, the scientist provides real world evidence scientific leadership and effective teamwork in cross-functional initiatives.

Basic Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline, such as epidemiology, public health, pharmacy, economics, education, psychology, statistics, etc.; or Master's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Knowledge and experience of health care systems in the U.S., Europe, Asia or other settings as appropriate for the position requirements.
  • Knowledge of the strengths and limitations of applying sources of real world data (e.g. administrative claims, electronic health records, disease state registries) to answer clinical and research questions.
  • Understanding of and experience with clinical settings and health outcomes or clinical research.
  • Technical and analytic capabilities in the areas of, burden of disease, epidemiology cost-effectiveness evaluation, treatment patterns, health economics, health care policy etc.
