The New York University College of Dentistry is seeking a strong academic leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Basic Science & Craniofacial Biology
(https://dental.nyu.edu/faculty/basic-science-and-craniofacial-biology.html). The Department has undergone extensive renovation and currently has over 19,000 square feet of research space. The College is located on 1st Avenue within the medical complex that includes the College of Dentistry, School of Medicine, affiliated hospitals and several vibrant research institutes.
The Department of Basic Science & Craniofacial Biology consists of 26 full-time faculty members many of which are supported by substantial NIH funding, and an additional 25 part-time and adjunct members. Research strengths of the department include craniofacial, bone and tooth biology research, cancer biology, infectious diseases, cell physiology, gene regulation and tissue engineering. The department is also responsible for the teaching of the basic science courses to dental, post-graduate and graduate students. The chair will oversee the research, teaching, and future growth of the department.
This is a full time tenured position at the rank of Full Professor. Candidates must possess a PhD, DDS, MD degree or a combination thereof, be a distinguished researcher with an international reputation and a solid track record of research funding, strong leadership and vision, and have an adequate level of administrative experience. The chair will be accountable to fulfill NYU College of Dentistry’s educational, clinical, research and service missions.
