Position available in Microbiology. Requirements include: (1) Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline, completed by August, 2019, (2) College teaching experience, and (3) Research that can be adapted to a comprehensive state university where teaching is the primary focus. The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University, Sacramento expects its faculty members to achieve excellence in classroom teaching and engage in scholarship, student advising, university service, and community service. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: 

-Teaching lower-division, upper-division and graduate courses in area of expertise within the biological sciences. Additional assignments may include the teaching of general education classes and capstone courses, depending on the needs of the Department.

-Developing a scholarly research program.

-Providing service to the Department and University.

-Providing service and/or outreach to the community.

-Academic and career advising of students.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications: 

-Interest in innovative teaching strategies to foster student success.

-Experience in one or more of the following subdisciplines in microbiology: microbial physiology, fermentation, immunology, medical microbiology, microbiomes and environmental microbiology.

-Ability to develop a research program involving undergraduate and/or Masters level students.

-Interest in developing partnerships with the biotechnology industry and/or state/federal entities.

-Ability to advise students with an interest in careers in microbiology.
