Endowed Professorship of the Carl Zeiss Foundation (W 2) for `Nanophysiology'

is to be filled at the earliest possible date.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative faculty covering a broad range of biological disciplines. We are seeking a colleague whose research will leverage the research areas of our faculty in membrane dynamics or neurobiology and who will use high-resolution microscopy in combination with genetic, biochemical, or functional studies with a focus on dynamic cell-biological processes, including the function, regulation, and interaction of complex protein networks in animal systems on a subcellular level.

The Faculty of Biology offers a Bachelor programme “Biologie” (in German) and a Master programme “Biology” (in English) including specialisations in Molecular Cell Biology and Neurobiology and participates in a Master programme “Biophysik” (in German) with specialisations in “Biophotonik” or “Molekulare Biophysik”. We seek a faculty member who shows a strong commitment to teaching students in at least one of the specialisations of the Master programme “Biology” and in the Bachelor programme “Biologie”, preferentially in the field of modern developmental biology.

Hence, we are looking for a personality with internationally recognised research, a track record in fundraising, and excellent teaching skills. To meet these demands in research and teaching, the position will be well equipped with start-up funds, personnel, and rooms.

The State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the TUK represent a support concept in which a high attendance of the professors at the university is expected.

Besides the general staff regulations, the appointment requirements stipulated in § 49 of the University Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate apply.

TUK strives to promote an increase in the representation of women in research and teaching, and thus emphatically invites qualified female academics to apply. Applicants with disabilities will receive preferential treatment in the event of equal suitability (please enclose evidence to the application). TUK is a family-friendly university; it values the diversity of its members and enables equality of opportunity for all. Applications by scientists from abroad are particularly welcome.
