Staff Scientist | X-Ray Crystallography Core

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

The Beckman Research Insititute of City of Hope X-Ray Crystallography Core is seeking a Staff Scientist with extensive experience in protein production (bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell lines), purification methods, crystallization and structure determination by diffraction methods. The candidate will participate in the Developmental Cancer Therapeutics program and work closely with synthetic organic chemists, cancer biologists and clinicians. The lab is well equipped including multiple FPLCs, refrig. incubators and biosafety hoods. The X-ray core facility has a crystallization robot, two crystallization imagers and a Rigaku diffractometer, all maintained under service contracts. The candidate will also have immediate access to an analytical ultracentrifuge (Beckman XLI), an isothermal titration calorimeter (TA Inst nanoITC), and a Biacore T100. The Staff Scientist series is designed for career research professionals whose primary function is to support the research infrastructure and activities of the institution. Staff Scientists will bring special skills, knowledge and experience to research programs or institutional core laboratories. Individuals appointed as staff scientists will receive a one-year fixed-term contract.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

APh.D. or other related doctoral level degree, required.
