The Immunosafety Team within Toxicology/Pathology collaborates with The Laboratory for Experimental Medicine (LEM) Mass Spec / Antibody Engineering group and Lilly Biotechnology, San Diego to develop a comprehensive dendritic cell-based platform to evaluate the risk of immunogenicity. MHC-associated peptide proteomics (MAPPs) has proven to be an indispensable capability that identifies those regions of biologic molecules that are displayed by dendritic cells for T cell activation. Not all the peptides displayed by dendritic cells are capable of eliciting a T cell response; therefore, assessing the immunogenicity of MAPPS-derived peptides is essential to identify T cell epitopes and enables (1) the engineering of biologics with lower risk of immunogenicity and (2) a refinement of the in silico immunogenicity prediction tools.

The core responsibilities of this position are: 1) performing T cell assays for the analysis of peptides identified by MAPPs, and 2) assisting with T cell assays technology/process improvements.

Other Responsibilities could include:
  • Research related to immunogenicity - working in team-oriented and multidisciplinary environment you will aid in the investigation of the drivers of immunogenicity. You will be responsible for aspects of the immunogenicity preclinical assays.
  • Communication and information management - You will play key role in accurate record keeping of raw data and communication of results to colleagues from the integrated immunogenicity team and clinical teams.
  • Technical writing skills -You will maintain all experiments and results in E-notebook. You will also be responsible for appropriate section writing/editing of any necessary documents.
  • Technical process application and improvement - You will develop and maintain expertise to conduct in vitro experiments addressing drug immunogenicity.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Immunology, Molecular or Cell Biology or related discipline and 2 years of relevant academic or industry research experience

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Demonstrated cell culture experience with both cell lines and primary cells.
  • Demonstrated experience with multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Expertise with various computer software programs for the analysis and presentation of data and results.
  • Experimental design; scientific approach to problem solving; method development, optimization and validation.
  • Ability to influence change and implement process improvement.
