The Professor and Head of Materials Science and Engineering will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership and ongoing strategic development of the department. This academic leadership position is an exceptional opportunity to lead, foster and grow excellence in research and teaching in a broad range of discipline areas within the Department. The Head of Materials Science and Engineering will be called on to develop and implement a vision for the school that will maintain and grow the schools success, including building collaborative partnerships across the Faculty and University and externally with key partners, locally, nationally and internationally.
As the ideal candidate, you will be an active and distinguished researcher, capable of fostering research excellence, mentoring staff, and developing a suite of internal and external research links. A significant track record of international research leadership is required, as well as demonstrated expertise in education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is also required.
The professorial appointment will be a continuing appointment in the Department and will include the role of Head of Department for an initial period of up to five years with the opportunity for renewal.
