Postdoctoral Research Position

The laboratory of Mark Hedglin in the Department of Chemistry at The Pennsylvania State University seeks to fill a postdoctoral research position with an individual who has extensive experience in mechanistic enzymology. Specifically, strong skills in cloning, expression, and purification of recombinant proteins and a high proficiency in kinetic and thermodynamic techniques and analyses are required. Experience in human DNA replication, DNA repair, or chromatin dynamics would also be appreciated but is not required. The applicant must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in an area of biological sciences by the time employment starts. The individual should be highly self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts. Interested and qualified applicants must submit applications electronically and include a cover letter describing your background and prior training, a CV which includes a list of publications, and a brief statement (1-2 pages) of research interests. Following a screening of these initial application materials, appropriate candidates will be contacted by email and asked to arrange for three (3) letters of recommendation to be sent so that they might be considered further. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one-year from the date of hire with a possibility of re-funding. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
