The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is accepting applications for a full-time, twelve-month faculty position in the Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, School of Health Professions (SHP), with an emphasis on Co-Directing the Biomedical and Health Sciences Program. SHP is one of our nation's largest and most diverse schools of its type with more than twenty programs at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels. UAB is currently ranked as one of the premier medical schools and research institutions in the country. The Master of Science in Biomedical and Health Sciences Program is an 11-month postbaccalaureate program designed to prepare a diverse student body for entry into graduate health professions programs. This faculty position has the administrative assignment of Co-Director for the Program, which is jointly run by the Departments of CDS (CDS/SHP) and Cell, Developmental & Integrative Biology, School of Medicine (CDIB/SOM). The Program has an excellent relationship with health-related programs at UAB, and graduates are accepted into professional programs throughout the US.


Responsibilities of the Co-Director includes working closely with the fellow Co-Director to provide Program leadership, implement policy, oversee the curriculum, teach/direct components of the curriculum, supervise administrative duties, mentor students, and work with Administration to advance the success of the Program. Minimum qualifications include a Master's Degree in healthcare or biomedical science with experience teaching clinical content in a systems-based medical curriculum (Doctorate Degree preferred). Those with prior academic scholarship, course/program directorship experience, and/or relevant administrative experience are encouraged to apply. Salary, faculty rank, and tenure status are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
