Instructor or Assistant Professor-Research

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) Department of Genetics in the School of Medicine and the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center (SSSCC) in New Orleans, LA invite applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor-Research (non-tenure track).  Academic rank will be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience.  We are specifically seeking highly motivated candidates with a strong background in cancer biology, especially the erbB receptor tyrosine kinase-mediated signaling, drug resistance, and tumor metastasis.

The ideal candidate will have strong evidence of scholarly activity reflected by peer-reviewed publications, potential for extramurally funded research, and team science, as well as a background in teaching graduate and/or medical students and postdoctoral fellows.  A focus on breast cancer models and translation research is highly desirable.

LSUHSC has a strong history of collaborative research programs and a state-of-the-art infrastructure to support investigators, including core laboratories offering Genomics, Immunology, flow cytometry, imaging, and Histopathology. Opportunities are available for interaction with the Alcohol Research Center and the Centers of Excellence in Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Cardiovascular Biology, and Neuroscience.
