The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a tenure track position, open rank, in Computational Chemical Engineering, with a start date of September 1, 2019. New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States and the Tandon School of Engineering has a distinctive history, having been known previously as Brooklyn Poly and the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.
Tandon faculty and students are at the forefront of the high-tech start-up culture in New York City and enjoy access to NYU’s Global Network University. The NYU Tandon School of Engineering is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and to fostering student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that change the world in meaningful ways. In support of these goals the CBE Department is undergoing major growth and rejuvenation, having hired six new senior and junior faculty in the last three years and moving into newly renovated laboratory space in the heart of Brooklyn. The Department is now eagerly looking for additional colleagues to join the excitement and help implement its vision.
The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department invites applications from candidates in all areas of computational chemical and materials science, with particular emphasis on biomaterials, all forms of catalysis, electrochemistry, electronic and photonic materials, biomolecular and biosystems engineering, reaction engineering, and surfaces and interfaces. Computational approaches may span all length and time scales with approaches ranging from density functional theory and molecular dynamics to systems level and continuum modeling; expertise with multiple length and time scales is most desirable. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline. A distinguished record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and an excellent funding record are desired from senior candidates, while junior candidates must demonstrate clear potential to achieve the same. All candidates must demonstrate or show potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, a current CV, and three references. Those who have previous teaching experience should also provide recent teaching evaluations.
Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
