The Wistar Institute has an opening for Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Kulp. The lab focuses on rational vaccine and therapeutic antibody design for a variety of infectious diseases (e.g. HIV, Lassa Fever) and cancer targets. Projects will utilize computational design and directed evolution approaches to engineer and optimize interactions between vaccine antigens and neutralizing antibodies. Structure-based design and deep sequencing will help guide and inform the directed evolution efforts. Immunizations with designed vaccine candidates will be examined in appropriate animal models and antigens will be further refined based on serological assessment. The goal is to develop effective immunogens and immunotherapies suitable for human clinical trials. We are looking for a creative individual who is excited about making an impact on human health through highly-innovative bioengineering approaches.

Interested candidates should have experience in Biophysics, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Immunology, B cell biology or related field. Knowledge of antibody-pathogen interactions is a plus. Practical experience with cloning, protein expression, and biophysical characterization is a plus. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit a cover letter and CV with the name of three references to Dr. Daniel Kulp (dwkulp@wistar.org).

The Wistar Institute is located in the University City area of Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Wistar provides resources to its faculty and staff that enable them to conduct cutting edge collaborative research and provides for outstanding intellectual environments and state-of-the-art facilities. Research discoveries conducted at Wistar have led to the development of vaccines; the identification of genes associated with cancers; and the development of many other significant research technologies and tools.

We offer an excellent benefits package.
