The University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites nominations, inquiries, and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and will lead, alongside a team of associate deans and department chairs and directors, the strategic, programmatic, financial, fundraising, and management operations that support the mission and vision of the College. The Dean will join a group of fellow deans and campus leaders who are collaborative, supportive and committed. Candidates should have a comprehensive resume of success in academic leadership and exceptional skills and experience that will enable leading an already strong educational and research enterprise. The College of Arts and Sciences:  The 17 departments and 41 centers, programs, and institutes in the College are united in their commitment to deliver excellence in liberal arts education and scholarship. 406 faculty (345 tenure line, 33 professors of practice, 28 research faculty) are internationally recognized scholars, innovative researchers, and award-winning teachers who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and ideas with the 4,700+ undergraduate majors and nearly 1,000 graduate students. In addition to delivering course content for 34 majors and 59 minors, the College provides foundational undergraduate instruction for the university. In 2017-2018, College faculty delivered over 254,000 student credit hours (41% of the university total). Faculty are engaged in a broad base of research activity including a strong and growing foundation of funded research. In fiscal year 2017, the College had total research expenditures of over $66 million, half of which were federal grant research expenditures. Over the past ten years, while College faculty numbers were stable, the total sponsored research expenditures per faculty FTE increased by 20 percent. The College faculty have received numerous awards for their research including 1 Carnegie Fellow, 3 American Association for the Advancement of Science fellows, 1 faculty Fulbright award, and a National Science Foundation Career Award in 2018 alone.
