Post-Doctoral Fellow or Research Scientist

An NIH-funded postdoctoral or Research Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiao Chen in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The research in the lab focuses on transplantation immunology with a specific emphasis on the immunobiology of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) response in mouse models. We were among the first groups to identify the important role of the retinoic acid pathway during GVHD. Ongoing research will use genetic, dietary, and pharmacologic approaches to explore novel strategies to prevent and/or treat GVHD without compromising the GVL effect by manipulating the RA pathway on different immune cells. Other exciting projects are also available in the lab. Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. and a strong track record of research accomplishments as evidenced by publications in peer reviewed journals are encouraged to apply. Individuals with a strong background in tumor immunology and/or cancer cellular immunotherapy are also encouraged to apply.

Essential Qualifications:

Ph.D in Immunology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or related field. Necessary research skills include immunology, standard molecular and cellular biology techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.  Candidates must be adept at designing and performing experiments and interpreting data. Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and attentiveness to detail required. They should also be able to communicate research results, as demonstrated by previous publications and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in transplantation immunology or tumor immunology, including mouse models, flow cytometry, and molecular biology are preferred.
