The Department of Biology at Southwestern University invites applications for an Assistant Professor with expertise in developmental biology beginning August 2019.  We welcome applications from candidates pursuing research in any area of animal or plant developmental biology.  The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the Introductory Biology sequence for majors, Explorations in Biology (non-majors course), sophomore-level Methods in Cellular/Molecular Biology, an upper-level course in Developmental Biology and other courses within the candidate’s range of expertise such as Evolutionary Developmental Biology, Neurobiology or Bioinformatics.  The successful candidate is expected to develop a research program in developmental biology and conduct research with Southwestern undergraduates. Other responsibilities will include advising students, contributing to First-Year Seminar and/or other interdisciplinary programs, and university service. We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong commitment to enhancing diversity, equity and inclusivity in academia.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline by June 1, 2019.
