Postdoctoral Fellowship Positions Available – DNA Damage Repair and Pediatric Sarcoma Therapy

Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Raushan Kurmasheva (http://gccri.uthscsa.edu/RKurmasheva.html). Research fellows will have the opportunity to interact with experts in basic and translational research at GCCRI.

Research will focus on understanding molecular basis of resistance to chemotherapeutics, and development of effective therapies for pediatric sarcomas. The laboratory studies DNA damage repair pathways involved in response to PARP inhibition, and utilizes the mouse sarcoma xenograft models to test novel drug combinations for Ewing sarcoma. There is in vitro and in vivo work to understand molecular mechanisms driving sensitivity/resistance to DNA damaging agents and DNA repair inhibitors. Project will include high-throughput studies to identify gene/drug targets, molecular characterization of protein interactions for drug discovery/development, and translational validation of basic discoveries in mouse models.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or MD, have productive scientific contributions through publication of high impact peer-reviewed papers, and show strong commitment to science.  Applicants with advanced skills in cell culture and genetic manipulations, biochemistry, proteomics, molecular biology backgrounds are highly desired.  Experience in mouse studies and bioinformatics analysis is a plus.

If interested, please send a CV, 1-2 page summary/Cover letter describing past accomplishments and 3 references, including contact information to Dr. Raushan Kurmasheva at KURMASHEVA@uthscsa.edu. Salary will be competitive.

Position may start as early as August 1, 2018.
