Job title:

Structural Immunology Leader

Summary:

PhD in Structural Biology with excellent writing and communication skills and knowledge of antibodies and immunology to lead antibody campaigns at Institute for Protein Innovation (IPI). The first campaign is to make antibodies to extracellular components of the Wnt, TGF-β/BMP, Notch, Hedgehog, and Hippo pathways.

Full description:

Do you want to lead innovative, fast-paced projects at IPI (https://proteininnovation.org/) to make antibodies to all 6,000 extracellular and cell surface proteins in mice and humans? We use a yeast display platform that allows selection of human antibodies that can cross-react with mouse and human targets. Antibodies can be used both in mouse to explore biology and disease and be developed to become human therapeutics.  The candidate must be a structural biologist with broad experience with extracellular protein families and be able to use structural information to design protein constructs and strategies to select antibodies that block protein-protein interactions. We will target complete protein families and signaling pathways, one at a time, in antibody “campaigns.” Antibodies will be selected that perturb functions such as ligand binding and signaling, are potential therapeutics, and work in applications including immunohistochemistry. The leader will work closely with IPI platform leaders during protein design, production, and antibody selection campaigns. The leader will then organize the outside scientific community in validating antibody specificity and discovering functional activities in crowd-sourced workshops. The leader must organize annual workshop meetings and publication of community findings. We will promote open-science by making all antibody sequences and validation publicly accessible.

Successful applicants will have excellent communication and writing skills and expertise in structural biology. The applicant will also write grants to support the antibody campaigns, workshops, and meetings. Administrative skills are important. The position is non-tenure track.

To apply, send a cover letter (in the body of an email), CV, three references, and a description of past contributions to the writing of manuscripts and grants to: careers[at]proteininnovation.org. Please include " Structural Immunology Leader " in the subject field.
