Lilly Imaging/Avid Radiopharmaceuticals provides technical expertise for molecular imaging and PET tracer discovery. The Imaging Scientist will provide imaging expertise in preclinical and clinical PET imaging and tissue imaging assay development with a focus on oncology imaging and preferred ability to expand to other therapeutic areas (neuroscience, autoimmune) imaging projects. Several imaging projects have been identified that are ready to be executed, which will have a high impact on existing Lilly projects or programs. This scientist will make it possible to efficiently move these assays forward through planning and imaging assay development, coordinating experimental details of internal and external partnered projects, conducting experiments him/herself, performing data analysis, and presenting data to internal teams and the international scientific community.

  • Establish and execute an imaging research program supporting oncology and other drug discovery and biomarker projects through building an interdisciplinary team of internal and external experts
  • Conduct PET imaging work from experimental design through image analysis, data interpretation, written and oral reports via internal or external labs
  • Perform or lead in vivo experiments, as needed, for translational imaging projects
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in imaging science and novel imaging agents
  • Establish and maintain contacts with global external experts and opinion leaders
  • Publish results of research projects as appropriate
  • Participate in extramural scientific organizations and attend scientific symposia as well as workshops in order to continue educational/professional development
  • Collaborate with clinical imaging teams, implement translatable imaging biomarker assays and ensure seamless translation of projects

Basic Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in physical or biological sciences or imaging-related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience and peer-reviewed publications in molecular imaging

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Experience with imaging protocol development
  • Experience in Oncology or Neuroscience imaging
  • In vivo animal nuclear medicine research experience
  • Image analysis experience with imaging software (ex: VivoQuant, Analyze, PMod, Matlab)
  • Large molecule imaging experience preferred
  • Clinical nuclear medicine research experience preferred
  • Willingness/desire to learn and incorporate additional technologies or therapeutic area biology to address imaging needs
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Creativity and critical thinking skills
  • Team Player
