Tenure track professorship (W1) for Quantum Device Technology

The University of Stuttgart is one of the leading technical universities in Germany and is situated at the center of one of the largest high-tech regions in Europe. Advancing worldleading excellence in the field of quantum science through integration of engineering and natural sciences is a core strategic goal of the university.

We seek early career candidates who have demonstrated excellence, originality and productivity in research, and have experience in harnessing quantum mechanical effects for technological applications in sensor technology, metrology or biomedical analytics. Possible research foci include the use of mesoscopic quantum systems for mass sensing, correlated electron materials or topological states for precision measurement of electric and magnetic fields or integrated quantum electronics and optics for spin and charge detection in atomic, molecular and solid state systems.

The successful applicant is expected to present an innovative and interdisciplinary research concept that strengthens the Translational Quantum Technology program (TQuant) of the Integrated Quantum Science and Technology Center (IQST). The professorship will be part of the Institute for Functional Matter and Quantum Technologies participating in the Center for Applied Quantum Technologies (ZAQuant). The post will encompass research, teaching, acquisition of third-party funding and participation in faculty management.

The professorship is funded in the context of the joint programme for the promotion of early career researchers by the German federal and state-governments. The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation. The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg university law apply. For more information on the criteria of evaluation and quality management, please visit the websites:
