The Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy seeks applications and nominations for an Associate or Full Professor to fill the position of Associate Dean for Research.  This Associate Dean will lead the expansion of the School’s research programs and infrastructure.  The School has three departments with specialties in basic pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences, clinical research, and health outcomes and policy research. The School of Pharmacy, and Auburn University as a whole, have an aggressive vision to grow scholarly programs and extramural research funding.  The Associate Dean for Research will help frame and accomplish this vision.  Information on the School and its departments can be viewed at

The Associate Dean for Research’s responsibilities include: participation as a member of the senior administrative team, facilitating and inspiring research across the School of Pharmacy, graduate student and faculty development in grant writing, building and managing core research infrastructure, representing the School to internal and external constituencies interested in research, and positioning the school to capitalize on innovative funding opportunities.

To ensure success in addressing the School’s vision and mission, applicants must possess a Pharm.D., Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in an appropriate field, excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrated experience in leadership and management.  Candidates should have academic credentials sufficient to meet tenure eligibility requirements, an outstanding scientific background, and an established record of obtaining extramural funds.  Experience building interdisciplinary research teams and leading institutional infrastructure grants is ideal.


Auburn University is a land-grant institution with a multicultural student enrollment of nearly 30,000. The University provides instruction in approximately 70 academic departments and maintains graduate research and public service programs. The University is located in the city of Auburn in east-central Alabama near several large metropolitan areas of Alabama (e.g., Montgomery and Birmingham) and Georgia (e.g., Atlanta and Columbus).  Co-located in Auburn is the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, which provides additional research and teaching collaborations.
