A postdoctoral research fellow position is available to study the role of the human microbiome in the laboratory of Dr. Marina Walther-António at Mayo Clinic. The position is better suited for an individual with a PhD degree with experience in the development and utilization of microfluidics, single-cell technologies, and bacterial and eukaryotic cell culturing. Research work will include basic mechanistic investigation with co-culturing of host cells and bacteria and development of translational devices for point-of-care patient applications. Research topics will encompass gynecologic cancers, and infectious diseases.

Knowledge and experience with optofluidics technology and/or microbial high-throughput-culturing is preferred, although not required. Applicants without prior experience but with interest in developing research activities using these techniques are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic. A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator.
