Multiple post-doctoral positions are open in the laboratory of Dr. Linden Hu at Tufts University School of Medicine to study the pathogenesis of Lyme disease. The successful candidate(s) will join a multi-disciplinary team of researchers (microbiologists, immunologists, biochemists, ecologists, arachnologists, and clinicians) interested in understanding the basic microbiology of the organism and its interactions with the host immune system with a focus in translating this knowledge into strategies to decrease human Lyme disease.  Ongoing areas of interest in the laboratory include whole genome approaches to identifying mechanisms of immune escape by the organism, understanding pathways triggering host tolerance of infection, development of strategies for eradication of the organism in its wild reservoirs, and vaccine development.  The specific project(s) will depend upon the interests and background of the applicant and will be tailored to facilitate her/his long-term career goals.

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D in either Microbiology or Immunology, have less than 5 years of post-doctoral experience, and be a creative thinker able to network with scientists in other disciplines.  Prior experience with Borrelia burgdorferi or ticks is not required.  Applicants with experience with live fluorescent imaging, CRISPR/Cas, bioinformatics related to genome sequencing will be given additional consideration.
