Open Faculty Search - Assistant/Associate Professor
The College of Pharmacy (pharmacy.osu.edu) at The Ohio State University (OSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to investigate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of novel antimicrobial drug candidates. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D., PharmD or equivalent, a focus on infectious diseases, experience in determining the pharmacokinetics of novel drug candidates and/or optimizing the utilization of existing clinical agents, experience working with interdisciplinary research teams, and mentoring trainees including members of underrepresented groups. A successful candidate will also demonstrate research productivity and evidence of, or potential for, an independently-funded research program. An expert in the PK/PD of antimicrobial agents is expected to complement the drug discovery research that is ongoing in infectious diseases at The Ohio State University and is enhanced by the presence of the OSU Infectious Diseases Institute (https://idi.osu.edu/). This investment through the OSU Discovery Themes Initiative thus builds upon existing strengths and a culture of academic collaboration to foster cross-disciplinary research excellence.
The successful candidate is expected to synergize with faculty involved in the identification of novel antimicrobial drug targets and therapeutic leads and with experts in the discovery of new antimicrobial agents derived from chemical synthesis and/or from natural products. Collaboration will be further coupled to a cadre of outstanding OSU investigators that specialize in the study of clinically significant bacterial pathogens including Salmonella typhimurium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Acinetobacter baumanni, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis including a focus on antimicrobial resistance amongst these pathogens.
