The Department of Vaccine Drug Product Development in Merck Research Laboratories, West Point, PA is seeking a scientist or engineer to join our group. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team that is focused on the development of vaccine drug products. The main responsibilities include the design and execution of experiments to evaluate the impact of formulation composition and the manufacturing process on yield and stability of liquid and lyophilized vaccine drug products.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced team environment and learn new skills quickly. The candidate should possess scientific knowledge and/or experience related to parenteral formulation development, biophysical characterization, lyophilization or other drying technologies, and immunology. Effective communication skills and good documentation practices are essential.
Education Minimum Requirement:
- B.S.in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Virology, or related discipline.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Experience designing, executing, and critically interpreting results from experiments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Formulation development experience with large molecules for parenteral administration
- Demonstrated proficiency in aseptic technique
- General knowledge and/or experience with lyophilization
- Experience with biophysical characterization
- Understanding of the drug product manufacturing process
- Demonstrated technical problem solving abilities
