Associate Director of Site Services Procurement – Global is a member of the Corporate and Site Services Center of Excellence (COE) team, and is responsible for managing sourcing and operations of Merck’s Site Services Globally.  The Associate Director is responsible for identifying, building and managing effective relationships with key suppliers that provide site services best quality at the lowest total cost of ownership and improving the performance and capability of service. Manage relationships and effectively partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders. 


Effectively utilize strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management processes to achieve company goals and support organizational strategies to achieve Operating Company & Corporate objectives.


The Associate Director will develop and execute sourcing strategies in their respective categories driving value, quality and innovation globally. The position will be in charge of the primary Site Services procurement interface for strategic programs and continuous improvement within the global and regional teams.


Responsibilities


• Provide strategy oversight for global and regional implementation of sourcing strategies using the 5-Stage Sourcing Management Process (SMP) and leveraging our SSC matrix organization. 


• Define and plan high level objectives targeted to long term results that will impact the way Merck views and purchases the category.


• Collaboration with senior stakeholders and well as critical members of the business to align the Site Services strategy by being a Trusted Procurement Partner and through SMP tools, facilitation of workshops and meetings. 


• Lead Market Intelligence activities relating to the Site Services categories.


• Implementation of tactical plans or projects directly linked to a strategy or business need.


• Develop and provide direction of the launch and execution of RFI’s/RFP’s pursuant to supplier selection aligned with strategic goals.


• Design, planning and implementation of actions and projects in connections with SMP/supplier governance to develop, improve, sustain or reposition Merck’s relationship with suppliers.


• Develop and participate in supplier forums, external meetings and events inclusive with key stakeholders.


• Design and plan actions to develop business partnering relationships with key/strategic stakeholders.


• Provide market knowledge and insights to provide critical insights to the business and continuous improvement activities.

Education Minimum Requirement:

Bachelor of Science


Required Experience and Skills**:


A minimum of 10 years in Procurement sourcing management

 Must have a basic understanding of Site Services and Integrated Facilities Management systems and technology.


Experience in creating and establishing site services policies and procedures.  May need to edit or update existing policy, or create new one.


Experience in managing sourcing events, conducting negotiations and managing supplier performance.


Language: Fluent in English
