The US healthcare landscape is undergoing a rapid transformation.  Providers are consolidating under Integratred Delivery Systems, Clinically Integrated Networks and Accountable Care Organizations.  Decision-makers are changing and the basis for decisions is evolving.  Furthermore, our customers are growing accustomed to seeking and receiving information through new communication channels.  In order to remain relevant to our customers and support them in improving vaccination rates across our portfolio, Merck Vaccines must evolve the way we engage with customers, including the development of new communication channels and integrating across channels (face-to-face, remote, digital).

This newly created role will be charged with defining the evolution of our customer engagement model, with a focus on health care providers, Integrated Delivery Systems, Clinically Integrated Networks, Accountable Care Organizations, Scientific/Key Opinion Leaders and Policy Makers




  • Bachelors Degree is required.  
  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Minimum of  5 years experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and/or healthcare market in marketing and/or sales
  • Knowledge of the US Vaccine marketplace, including key customer segments (HCP, IDS, CIN, ACO,KOLs, Policy-Makers)
  • Strategic thinking, including working through ambiguity
  • Leadership of large cross-functional teams, including the ability to lead without authority
  • Focus on ethics, integrity and regulatory compliance
  • Effective project management skills
  • History of innovative thinking
  • Able to “get things done” through a complex matrixed organization
  • Ability to appropriately challenge the status quo 
  • Collaboration skills that cross enterprise functions and support a ‘One Merck” approach
  • Ability to learn quickly and to assess a variety of scenarios both strategically and operationally
  • Excellent business acumen and analytical skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven team building skills
  • Ability to manage consultant engagements and other 3rd party partnerships

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to influence leadership
  • Executive leadership presence, and the ability to articulate highly complex information in a simplified manner
