  • Provide financial planning, forecasting and analytical support to Merck Research Laboratories (“MRL”) Partnerships, Alliances and Collaborations Finance Team.
  • Take financial ownership of assigned budgets, forecasts and monthly accrual processes. 
  • Contract terms and conditions can vary significantly; therefore the incumbent will need to understand specifics of assigned partnerships, alliances and collaborations.
  • Act as the primary point of Finance with stakeholders including but not limited to Clinical Development Finance, Alliance Managers, Project Managers, as well as 3rd party partners.
  • Ensure partner related payments and receipts are processed timely and in accordance with contract.
  • Develop presentations for the Late Development Review Committee and alliance stakeholders. 
  • Support project team decision-making by providing relevant financial information and insight which allows stakeholders to achieve their operational goals. 
  • Ensure all accounting entries, payments, receipts, including milestones completed are accounted for appropriately according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and internal and external accounting guidance.
  • Ensure internal control processes are maintained in accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
  • Take on ad hoc responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Science or Engineering.  Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years in a financial analysis, forecasting or budgeting role
  • Effective with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
 

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • MBA and/or CPA
  • Exposure to clinical grants and project budgeting
  • Experience with SAP and/or SAP BPC
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with teams, including 3rd parties
  • Strong financial acumen 
  • Proactively solves problems, recommending well thought out solutions which at times may be “outside of the box”
  • Willingness to learn new skills
