Postdoctoral Fellow positions are immediately available for highly motivated upcoming or recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. graduate in the general fields of chemical, molecular, or cell biology. The positions are in the lab of Professor David Lawrence, at the University of North Carolina in the Departments of Chemistry, Chemical Biology & Medicinal Chemistry (Pharmacy), and Pharmacology (Medicine).
The Lawrence Lab works at the interface between chemistry and biology. The lab has broad interests, including the design of reporters of cell signaling activity, the construction of light responsive therapeutic agents, and the engineering of light-activated proteins (optogenetics). Postdoctoral openings for all three projects are available. Depending upon the project, a strong background in one or more of the following areas is important: design of drug delivery systems (including nanotechnology), molecular and cellular biology, and/or microscopy. These are collaborative projects with Professors Garrett Stuber (optogenetics), Shawn Hingtgen (drug delivery), or Nancy Albritton (signaling activity reporters).
