Are you an exceptional candidate who can provide leadership to one of the preeminent centers for clinical and translational research in the world? This position offers a unique opportunity to serve as the second-in-command of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) with responsibility for the execution and management of operations in support of the NCATS strategic vision and mission. The individual selected for this position will work closely with the NCATS Director to provide leadership in catalyzing the creation, demonstration, and dissemination of innovative methods and technologies that enhance the development, testing, and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions.

We are looking for applicants with a commitment to scientific excellence and the energy, enthusiasm and innovative thinking necessary to lead within a dynamic and diverse organization.  Applicants must possess a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctorate degree in the biomedical sciences, with broad senior-level research experience and experience in direct administration of a research program and expert scientific knowledge in the broad fields of biomedical, clinical, and translational research. Applicants should be known and respected within their profession, both nationally and internationally, as distinguished individuals of outstanding scientific competence and administrative capability.  Candidates should have demonstrated leadership abilities, the ability to serve as a spokesperson, experience with planning, executing, and assessing complex multifaceted preclinical and clinical programs, particularly those utilizing NIH extramural mechanisms.  Experience is also required in the resolution of operational problems and issues, as well as demonstrated ability to manage financial and human resources including building, motivating and maintaining a culturally diverse staff.

The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments, and a full Federal benefits package will be provided.
