Digital is the heart of Merck’s Digital Marketing & Channels team and is responsible for supporting our Global Human Health business and global marketing strategies.  We are actively looking for a talented UI Developer who can create incredible user experiences for internal and external stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who innately combines the art of design with the art of programming or testing.

The User Interface Developer position will work closely with digital team members such as, content management authors/developers, project management, marketing, business stakeholders, and technical members of our organization, so strong communication skills are required.  The UI Developer will work in a global, agile, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills, be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

Primary Responsibilities

• Research the trends of modern UI design and make recommendations based on those trends and best practices

• Understand stakeholder goals, business requirements, technical constraints, and work within project parameters

• Synthesize requirements, technical constraints, user research, data and analytics into design solutions

• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI designs

• Create usability tests and gather feedback for analysis and improvement

• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

• Build reusable code and libraries

• Develop new user-facing features

• Optimize sites, portals and platform for maximum performance and scalability

• Leverage existing best practices and develop new ones where appropriate


Education Minimum Requirement:

You have a 4 year degree in communication design, graphic design, marketing or similar 

Required Experience and Skills

3+ years UI/UX design experience for web development and/or mobile apps1+ years development experience Basic understanding of image authoring tools, to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an imageFamiliar with Adobe Creative Suite or SketchYou have an understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them 

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Detail oriented and have highly developed organizational skillsStrong multi-tasking and prioritization skillsTeam player and know what levers to pull to drive a successful outcomeYou write code that is organized, documented, clean, and easy for other developers to consume
