The Vaccines Director, Global Market Access New Products, is responsible for leading cross functional -access team(s) to design and execute the activities associated with developing an integrated global market access strategy for assigned product(s). Specifically the incumbent will be responsible for pipeline vaccines as well as our inline vaccines, ZOSTAVAX, VAQTA and RECOMBIVAX HB.

In this role, the Director is a member of the global commercial cross functional team(s) and secures that access strategy, grounded in Value Demonstration & Affordability principles, is incorporated within the over-all commercial plan. In this capacity, the Director will lead the development of access strategy, value messages, and execution plan in collaboration with Marketing, CORE (Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence), Medical Affairs, Policy, Pricing, Communications and key markets. This individual will lead efforts to provide access and pricing assumptions into business development assessments on an ad-hoc basis. This role requires overseeing the design, development, and training of value communication tools for key global, regional and country stakeholders to prepare for stakeholder engagement and access negotiations and to take informed positions related to price, value and affordability challenges at the appropriate time of product development.

This role will also co-lead with CORE, 4th hurdle framework assessments (payer considerations accounted for in clinical development) and present recommendations to senior Global Market Access and CORE leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify unmet needs, gaps in care, and current and future reimbursement, pricing landscape and key stakeholders/decision makers to develop access strategy and to assess opportunities and risks to the commercial plans of the assigned products
  • Identify and assess access and reimbursement hurdles by country archetype to inform value evidence needs and plans to address differences
  • Collaborate with Policy colleagues in the assessment of and development of action plan to shape the value frameworks and other policies impacting value assessment
  • Develop value proposition and messages for assigned products
  • Develop product value scenarios and negotiation strategies in support of Global, Regional, Country plans
  • Develop pricing strategy (jointly with Global Pricing) to enable product access scenarios
  • Collaborate with CORE and Medical Affairs colleagues in the development of real world evidence and economic models and/or analyses
  • Lead the development of value communication resources
Position Qualifications:
  • At least five years of experience in one or more of these areas: access, marketing (or equivalent roles), pricing/reimbursement, or health economics 
  • Ability to distill down and synthesize complex information from various resources to insights and actions
  • Experience successfully leading cross functional matrix teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong influencing, negotiating, conflict resolution skills
  • Strong commercial orientation and business acumen
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong project management and operational skills
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • New Product and/or Scientific Strategy (scientific platform) experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, develop and communicate scientific based strategies and messages
  • Prior experience developing global business strategy
  • Knowledgeable about health economic tools and techniques
  • Understanding of healthcare systems and reimbursement methods, including health technology assessments of major countries
  • Knowledgeable and experience in vaccines

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement: 

  • BA/BS, master’s degree in business administration, health policy, or health economics preferred
Required Experience and Skills**:
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in one or more of these areas: access, marketing (or equivalent roles), pricing/reimbursement, or health economics 
  • Ability to distill down and synthesize complex information from various resources to insights and actions
