The Yan lab in Department of Biological Sciences at University of North Carolina at Charlotte is interested in the molecular mechanisms of genome integrity and cancer etiology using Xenopus egg extracts and mammalian cells. In particular, the Yan lab has made contributions to a better understanding of innovative and molecular aspects of DNA damage repair, DNA damage response, oxidative stress response, single-strand break repair and signaling, and cancer therapeutics (Willis et al., PNAS, 2013; Yan et al., Cell. Mol. Life Sci., 2014; Wallace et al., PNAS, 2017; Li et al., Cancer Res., 2017; Liu et al., Cancer Lett., 2018; Lin et al., Nucleic Acids Res., 2018).

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Yan lab immediately. The Postdoctoral Fellow’s principal research responsibilities will be investigating the molecular mechanisms of genome integrity. The Postdoctoral Fellow will report to Dr. Shan Yan and will be a senior member of the Yan group, supporting projects through original research, collaboration with other team members, and mentoring of junior lab members. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also contribute to additional proposal efforts, thereby strengthening UNC Charlotte’s ability to attract external funding.

Candidate for this position should have PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or related disciplines, specializing in biochemistry, molecular biology, or cancer biology (or scheduled PhD thesis defense by May 2018). A strong experimental background with evidence of experimental skills related to biochemistry, molecular biology, and cancer biology is preferred. Previous working experience with mammalian cells and/or mouse is preferred, but not required.

Application of the Postdoc position can be submitted via the website: https://jobs.uncc.edu/postings/21399 More information of the Yan lab can be found from this website: https://clas-pages.uncc.edu/shan-yan/. Inquiry can be sent via email to Dr. Shan Yan (shan.yan@uncc.edu).
