The College of Medicine at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure track position in the field of biomedical metabolomics at the associate professor or professor level.

The ideal candidate will have experience and interests in the discipline of metabolomics and application of innovative technologies to understanding the mechanisms underlying disordered metabolism at the whole body/tissue/cell levels.  Specifically, expertise on the exploration of the molecular and subcellular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and outcome of tissue damage in conditions such as metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension, and neuropathy is desired.  Further, experience in pre-clinical or clinical studies involving metabolic profiling or metabolomic techniques is of particular interest. The candidate must have demonstrated ability and interest in collaborating across disciplines and be an active participant in the Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative “Food to Improve Health” and in the Ohio State University’s Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center within the College of Medicine.

The candidate will also have opportunities to teach undergraduate or graduate level classes related to the candidate's areas of expertise. Joint appointments are actively encouraged with other disciplines at Ohio State. This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative “Food to Improve Health” which is assembling a critical mass of scholars focused on the Food and Nutritional Metabolomics for Health. The overarching goal of this initiative is to increase understanding of individual biochemical variability in response to diet- and food-based interventions to improve health and prevent disease, and as a sound basis for appropriate dietary recommendations and public health messages. The Diabetes and Metabolism Research center is interested in biomarkers of metabolic disease, especially those that play a role in pathogenesis, and use of the biomarkers as treatment targets.

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral degree in biochemistry, physiology, nutrition, or related biomedical field, and to present evidence of excellence in teaching and research. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.

Applicants are asked to prepare a single PDF file that contains a cover letter including a statement of research and teaching interests, a current curriculum vitae, and copies of two (2) recent publications. Finalist candidates will be asked to supply letters of recommendation.  Please send all requested materials to
