Group Leader Position in Ophthalmic Imaging
The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) invites applications for a Group Leader position in Ophthalmic Imaging. A competitive start-up, core funding, and access to all core facilities necessary to conduct state-of-the-art biomedical research are provided.
We are seeking an outstanding individual who will establish an ambitious research program to develop methods for imaging the human eye, with an emphasis on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and two photon laser microscopy. Applications for tenure-track and tenured Group Leader positions are considered. The position will allow to combine research with clinical care in case the applicant is a fully trained ophthalmologist.
Funded in 2017 by Novartis, the University of Basel, and the University Hospital of Basel, IOB is a new international biomedical research center dedicated to understand the function and diseases of the visual system and to treat and cure eye diseases causing visual loss and blindness (www.iob.ch). In IOB, PhD students, postdocs, physicians and staff scientists in both basic and clinical research work together to create fundamental knowledge about the cell types, circuits, and diseases of the visual system, and use the gained understanding to develop new treatments. IOB is situated in Basel, Switzerland, which offers an outstanding scientific and cultural environment in the center of Europe.
