Post-Doctoral Research Associate
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking a PhD in medicine, biology, biochemistry, pharmacy or similar with experience in liver patho-physiology and/or endocrinology research, preferable translational bench-to-bedside oriented, for a Post-Doctoral position.
The main field of study will be the mechanisms of hepatocyte dysfunction and fibrosis in alcohol related liver disease and acute-on-chronic liver injury. The project will rely on the use of high through-put methods (RNA and DNA sequencing, methylome studies, proteomics and metabolomics) on the analysis of human samples. Human data-based, hypothesis-driven in vitro and in vivo experimental work will be required in order to gain mechanistic insight on complex biological processes. The goal will be the discovery of new biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets. Although Molecular Biology experience is mandatory, complementary Bioinformatic skills will be very appreciated.
This job will require significant scientific judgment and advanced academic qualifications. Successful candidates will conduct complex laboratory work and technical analysis with the help of a laboratory technician. Additionally, they will collaborate on conceptual project designs, determine details of the experimental process and data analysis methodology, and coordinate all laboratory research including data collection, input, evaluation and analysis for this project.
A PhD in medicine, biology, biochemistry, pharmacy or similar with experience in liver patho-physiology and/or endocrinology research, preferable translational bench-to-bedside oriented is desired.
Interested candidates should send a 1) Cover Letter 2) Current Curriculum Vitae 3) Statement of research interests (1-2 pages max) 4) Copies of medical school or graduate school transcripts 5) Three letters of reference.
