The Value Proposition Manager is responsible for the implementation and management of compelling value-based contracts. This position supports the business by recommending appropriate actions, strategies, and/or contracting approaches to secure market access for Merck portfolio products.


The Value Proposition Manager collaborates with internal stakeholders in managing the business relationship for accounts and establishing profitable product access within Merck product strategy, optimizing net sales and contract performance across Merck's entire portfolio of products.

This role is responsible for introducing innovative contracting options that improve business outcomes for Merck and the customer.

This position is based in Merck, Carolina, Puerto Rico and does not include relocation assistance.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

 

 


Education:

 

  • Required: BS/BA
  • Preferred: MBA, Master’s in Science/ Healthcare major and/or Advanced Science, Public Health or Allied Healthcare.
 

Experience and other:

 

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in the healthcare industry and/or pharmaceutical industry in contract development role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish, oral and written).
  • PR Valid Driver’s License.
  • Able to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Proven track record in managing and contracting Value-Based Contracts.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Experience working with HEDIS Metrics and Pay for Performance Programs.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Proactive and cross functional leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated business healthcare acumen.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Project management skills, with strict attention to detail.
  • Exceptional presentation and overall communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge in a constantly changing business environment.
  • Evidence of innovative and creative solutions.
  • Relationship building & networking.
  • Market-based customer knowledge.
  • Healthcare, Environmental trends, and policy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with individuals from a variety of professions, ecosystems and disciplines.
  • Strong peer leadership and ability to collaborate with and coordinate activity among individuals in different reporting structures within the organization.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
