Several postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Ilia V. Baskakov in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiolog and the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Technology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore. Our laboratory utilizes multidisciplinary approaches including animal pathology, cellular and molecular biology, imaging, biochemistry, biophysics and glycobiology for elucidating mechanisms behind chronic neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation associated with prion diseases and other neurodegenerative diseases. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated junior postdoctoral fellows with strong interests in chronic neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
Experience in one or several areas including animal pathology, primary cell cultures, immunohistochemistry, histopathology, molecular imaging, glycochemistry, transcriptome analysis, mass-spectrometry are highly desirable. Knowledge and expertise in analysis of functional states of microglia and astrocytes are highly valuable. Successful candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in neuroscience, cellular or molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or related disciplines. Candidates are expected to have analytical skills and be proficient in oral and written communication.
