Merck’s success is backed by ethical integrity, forward momentum, and an inspiring mission to achieve new milestones in global healthcare. Position responsibilities include, but not limited to:•Assist in the preparation of the quarterly estimate and actual calculations of the Company’s consolidated effective tax rate.  This includes review of legal entity projections and related tax provisions, as well as the tax effecting of consolidation entries.  •Assist in the monthly, quarterly and annual analyses of US GAAP current and deferred income taxes, which include journal entry preparation and analyses.  •Assist in the global tax accounting activities including assessment and documentation of valuation allowances.  Conduct technical reviews of deferred tax assets and liabilities.  Correspond with foreign entities to settle any pending issues arising from the review of this information.•Assist in the administration of OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) tool, requiring maintenance and oversight of approximately 350 entities on a quarterly basis; Assist in providing technical instruction on the accounting for income taxes to local personnel in foreign sites.•Identify, develop and maintain solutions to further improve and streamline Tax Accounting and Reporting processes, to include initiatives to select and expand use of various technology tools•Assist in calculating impacts of proposed changes in Accounting for Income Taxes and tax legislation •Perform special projects and other functions as requested by the Director, Tax Accounting
Successful candidate will possess:•Demonstrated working knowledge of tax schedules and supporting calculation methodologies within various systems that support the tax provision calculation •Ability to modify OneSource Tax Provision configurations and templates to meet existing and future tax reporting needs•Ability to create process documentation that is easily understood •Demonstrated follow-through with end-users to ensure processes continue to meet requirements •Demonstrated ability to work within a team and across broader groupsQualifications

Qualifications:•BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or other business related field•MST preferred•CPA  preferred•Multinational Tax Department  or Big 4 accounting firm Tax Accounting experience (income tax compliance, ASC 740, reporting, transaction tax compliance, etc.) preferred •Extensive functional experience with OneSource Tax Provision and MS Office Products, particularly Excel•Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, technology skills, research skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills•Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments
