Role Description: 
Responsible for providing compliant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to operating departments at the Rahway site. Integrates EHS programs into daily operations to assure regulatory compliance, achieves continuous performance improvement, meeting EHS performance objectives.  This role will partner with operations to develop objectives to achieve goals in alignment with site business goals and values.    Performs responsibilities and addresses problems with limited supervision. 

•Implement the site’s Industrial Hygiene Program including anticipate, recognize, and evaluate workplace health hazards and recommend proper control strategies to manage identified risks. 
•Complete industrial hygiene monitoring and associated report writing to include a prioritization of IH-related risks and develop and assist with implementing corrective and preventive action plans in alignment with Merck requirements.
•Maintains the site’s Biosafety Manual and Exposure Control Plan.
•Provides and interprets biosafety regulations, guidelines, resources and reference information.
•Works with operations to identify biohazardous agents and materials, maintain inventory, develop and recommend biosafety routine and emergency practices in accordance with Merck standards.
•Completes hazard assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, process hazard analysis, life safety reviews, incident investigations, environmental regulatory field analysis, environmental reports and permit applications.
•Reviews processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to recognized EHS regulations, standards and guidelines. 
•Provides support to client groups in completing injury/illness analysis, training, self-assessments and addressing specific EHS concerns as they are raised.
•With a deep knowledge of EHS regulations and their applicability, develops EHS procedures, guidelines and training programs as assigned.

•Assure completion of all regulatory submissions, notifications, etc. required to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local EHS requirements.

Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in Safety or Environmental related technical discipline preferred.  MS in a related field desired.
Required Experience and Skills**:
·         Minimum 5 years applied professional EHS work experience. 
·         Advanced level of proficiency in either Industrial Hygiene or Biosafety required. 
·         Must be proficient in critical thinking, communication skills and project management.
